Breaking the Ice Campaign Donates $9,000 for RRMC Mental Health Services
Vermont Business Magazine On Tuesday, June 7, members of the Castleton University men’s hockey team presented vendors, administrators and staff at Rutland Regional Medical Center with an oversized check representing proceeds from the first-ever Breaking the Ice on Mental Health to benefit behavioral health programs and services offered by Rutland Regional.
Over $9,000 was raised during the first event on February 4, 2022 at Spartan Arena. Castleton University men’s hockey coach Kyle Richards and team member Grady Birk, a Castleton University junior, presented the check to Claudio Fort, President and CEO of the Rutland Regional Medical Center, along with providers and staff from the Rutland Regional Behavioral Health Clinic.
“It was important for the team to give back to the community this year,” said Spartan head coach Kyle Richards. “The team recognized that mental health issues have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are proud to partner with Rutland Regional Medical Center to raise awareness and support mental health services.
“We are grateful for the strong partnership and collaboration with Castleton University and appreciate the leadership of the men’s hockey team which focuses on the importance of mental health services in our community,” said Claudio Fort. “The team’s commitment to this important cause has been exceptional.
