1 billion clinical records now in Abu Dhabi’s digital health information exchange

According to AHDDS, Malaffi now connects nearly 100% of healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi. It has 47,000 authorized users, including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from 2,347 healthcare facilities.

By providing a centralized repository of clinical data and delivering advanced patient and population health insights, Malaffi is playing a critical role in the digital transformation of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare industry. Its deployment is considered one of the fastest HIE deployments in the world.

Robert Denson, Acting Managing Director of Malaffi, said: “The Government of Abu Dhabi has set ambitious plans to position itself at the forefront of digital transformation and has quickly recognized the importance of connecting healthcare healthcare and the early integration of disruptive technologies such as AI. [Artificial Intelligence] and IoT [Internet of Things]. In just three and a half years, Malaffi has established itself as a central part of the digital transformation of the healthcare system in the emirate.

Earlier this month, the platform launched its Patient Risk Profile feature, which is available to physicians licensed to use Malaffi. This uses AI to predict patients’ future risk of developing certain chronic diseases or suffering from an acute event, thereby supporting the provision of preventive care. More milestones are expected over the coming months as Malaffi works to expand its products and features.

The name Malaffi is derived from the Arabic term for “my record” and symbolizes the patient “records” stored in the centralized HIE database.
